There are no more A, AA, AAA levels in WCAG 3.0, so don WCAG 3.0 covers a wider set of user and disability needs, publishing requirements, and emerging technologies such as web XR (augmented, virtual, and mixed reality) and voice input. WCAG 3.0 also includes non-normative information about web technologies working in conjunction with authoring tools, user agents, and assistive technologies. WCAG 2.0 uses the same three levels of conformance (A, AA, AAA) as WCAG 1.0, but has redefined them. The WCAG working group maintains an extensive list of web accessibility techniques and common failure cases for WCAG 2.0.

WCAG 3.0 will not undo the previous versions, but will extend and provide greater clarity concerning current guidelines. WCAG 3.0 is a highly ambitious project, with lofty goals to significantly improve and expand on WCAG 2.x in a dozen different areas. Simultaneously, WCAG 3.0 is striving to keep up, if not improve on the qualities of WCAG 2.x that allowed it to be adopted by regulations around the globe.
